Mmm Coffee!!!

If you love rich, frothy coffee like me then you must have tried to create that creamy texture in your home. I make coffee by two methods which I am sharing with you. First one is Beaten coffee, it is a very simple method of making cappuccino style coffee and also inexpensive because you are making at home. It involves the same procedure as we whip the cream and sugar for frosting. If you have tried some other technique then do not hesitate to share with me.

COFFEE with technique no.1 or Beaten Coffee
Ingredients:
4 tbsp sugar
3-4 tsp instant coffee
3/4 tbsp warm water
4 cups of 1% milk
Method:
Combine sugar, instant coffee with warm water. The mixture should be just moist not watery.
Beat vigorously in one direction until it turns creamy and thick. the point is to incorporate as much air as possible. Add more water if it is too thick and difficult to beat. When the colour changes and it increases in volume your beating is done.

It takes 5-10 minutes depending on how fast you beat. Divide the beaten coffee equally in four cups. Heat milk in a saucepan. Pour hot milk on the beaten coffee. Mix the coffee and milk to combine. you will notice a thick layer of froth on top. If you like you can sprinkle cinnamon powder or chocolate powder on it. Enjoy thick creamy gourmet coffee with your friends.

If you want to make this beaten coffee for a group of friends beat the coffee mixture first with a spoon and then with electric beater. You can store the beaten coffee in fridge for a week.

If you want to make a single cup of coffee without sugar and do not want your wrist to get tired then try the following technique.

COFFEE with technique no.2:

You need to have a battery operated frother to make this. It is really cheap. I got mine from IKEA five years ago for $2.00.
Ingredients:
1/2 -1tsp instant coffee
3-4 tbsp water
1cup milk
sugar optional

Method:
Heat 3-4 tbsp of water with instant coffee in microwave.  Boil milk in a saucepan. Pour the  boiled  milk in a froth pitcher or any cup with a spout. Whizz the milk with battery operated frother.

You'll be amazed at the amount of thick foamy milk froth produced by this simple equipment. Slowly pour the milk into your coffee by holding the foam.

Then spoon all the froth on top. Sprinkle some chocolate powder  for that extra taste. Swirl it with toothpick.

Although it won't have that thick creamy texture that a whipped cream would give but you will be glad you did not dress up your coffee with extra calories.
